Medical Services
Ask Me Your MD, Inc. (“AMY MD”) provides access to licensed physicians through virtual healthcare services, including telechat and other telehealth modalities.
During a clinical encounter, an AMY MD physician may evaluate symptoms and medical concerns, ask questions about a patient’s medical history, provide medical guidance, recommend treatment, and determine appropriate next steps based on the information reasonably available during the virtual encounter.
Virtual care has limitations. Certain medical conditions cannot be safely or appropriately evaluated or treated through telehealth and may require laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, an in-person physical examination, urgent care, emergency care, or evaluation by another healthcare professional.
The treating physician determines whether a patient’s concern is appropriate for virtual care based on the physician’s independent clinical judgment.
Prescriptions
AMY MD physicians may prescribe non-controlled medications when medically appropriate following a clinical evaluation and when permitted by applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
A prescription is never guaranteed. All prescribing decisions are made by the treating physician based on the patient’s symptoms, medical history, clinical presentation, applicable medical standards, and the physician’s independent professional judgment.
AMY MD does not prescribe controlled substances through its platform.
A physician may determine that medication is not appropriate, that additional testing is necessary, or that an in-person evaluation is required before treatment can be safely provided.
Medication Refills
AMY MD physicians may consider requests for refills of eligible non-controlled medications when clinically appropriate.
The physician may request additional medical information, documentation, laboratory testing, medical records, or follow-up evaluation before authorizing a refill.
Submission of a medication refill request does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued.
Virtual Care Limitations
Telechat and other AMY MD virtual healthcare services are intended for medical concerns that can be appropriately evaluated through telehealth.
Virtual care may not be appropriate when a condition requires a hands-on physical examination, diagnostic testing, imaging, procedures, emergency intervention, or other services that cannot reasonably be performed through a virtual encounter.
If an AMY MD physician determines that virtual care is not appropriate for a patient’s condition, the patient may be advised to seek care through a primary care provider, specialist, urgent care center, emergency department, or other appropriate healthcare setting.
Medical Emergencies
AMY MD is not an emergency medical service and should not be used for medical emergencies.
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek immediate emergency medical attention.
Potential emergency symptoms may include, but are not limited to:
Do not delay emergency medical care while waiting for a response through AMY MD.
No Guarantee of Diagnosis or Treatment
Use of AMY MD does not guarantee that a particular diagnosis will be made, that treatment will be recommended, or that a prescription will be issued.
Medical decisions depend on the patient’s individual circumstances and the treating physician’s professional judgment.
If the physician believes that sufficient information is not available to safely diagnose or treat the patient virtually, the physician may recommend additional evaluation or in-person care.
Physician Independence
AMY MD physicians exercise independent professional medical judgment when evaluating and treating patients.
AMY MD does not require physicians to prescribe a particular medication, make a particular diagnosis, or recommend a particular course of treatment.
Treatment decisions are based on applicable standards of care, the information available during the encounter, and the physician’s clinical judgment.
Patient Responsibility
Patients are responsible for providing complete and accurate information regarding their symptoms, medical history, allergies, medications, medical conditions, and other information relevant to their care.
Patients should promptly inform the treating physician if their symptoms change or worsen.
Patients are also responsible for following recommended care instructions and seeking in-person, urgent, or emergency medical attention when advised or when their condition warrants such care.
Telehealth Consent
By using AMY MD’s clinical services, you acknowledge that healthcare delivered through telehealth differs from an in-person medical encounter.
Telehealth may involve limitations in a physician’s ability to perform a physical examination, obtain vital signs, conduct diagnostic testing, or directly observe certain clinical findings.
You consent to receiving healthcare through telehealth and acknowledge that an AMY MD physician may determine at any time that your medical concern requires evaluation outside of the virtual-care setting.
